Caledonian Creates is the end of year show for Glasgow Caledonian Universities creative courses. For the past few year the show has had more or less the same branding and overall look and feel for the show, but this year they wanted to do something different and give it a complete rebrand, asking the 4th year Graphic Design for Digital Media students to each come up with a look for the 2014 show, and this was my submission.
Concept was based around the idea that, many different courses come together to form this show, not one single course. Different elements so to speak. This word ‘element’ then kicked off the idea of leading the branding down a science and chemistry route. Portraying Caledonian Creates as the creative element of GCU. And this show is showcasing Caledonians creative ‘DNA’.
In previous years the branding has been pretty safe and not really in your face style wise - this year I felt people should sit up and take notice. GCU is not particularly known for its design side of the university so for the branding, I wanted it to look completely non GCU and like an independent, art school show.
Something that would be intriguing and in your face, something you can’t ignore driving people to come visit the show. See what GCU has to offer. The re-brand was expressed through the following mediums:
- Complete new visual identity
- Poster Campaign
- Hand out Flyer/poster combo
- Exhibition Graphics
- Social Media
- Exhibitor Identification
- Digital ‘Welcome screen’ animation
- Small digital screen animation
