New film on my Must See List is Cake.
Although I have not seen it yet I thought I'd give it a little promo just incase any of you other film lovers have not heard or know much of it.
Starring Jennifer Aniston and a stellar cast including Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick and Felicity Huffman to name a few. It exudes killer performances from reviews written and acting accolades that have already descended upon the film prior to the release. With the likes of Aniston being nominated for a SAG, Golden Globe and Critics' Choice award for Best Actress.
But accolades aside, the story itself seems a captivating one.
Protagonist Claire Bennett leads the story as a woman in chronic pain seeking help in a support group. During her time there she becomes obsessed with the suicide of a fellow group member, Nina. Obsession growing, Nina appears to Claire and seems to be haunting and taunting her from beyond the grave, leading Claire and Nina's (now widowed) husband Roy, paths to cross. It's a mutual loneliness on both behalves that brings their stories together. In times of both physical and emotional pain their stories intertwine bringing in past baggage, of different kinds, from one another.
Thats all I'm giving away from the story, this is a NO SPOILERS blog, we don't want to ruin it for all & ourselves.
Ironically with Aniston being given so much praise for her acting in this role she was snubbed for an Oscar nomination at this years ceremony which has left many fans and critics confused and a little angry. From only reading slight synopsises and watching the trailer it has left us wanting more and this is definitely a must see.
On another note, the trailer contains a killer new track from band Haerts called Hemiplegia. I'll link below to the trailer and track. They go seamlessly together.
I may up an update post up after I've seen the full film. See if it lives up to my expectations.
